Water color, Japanese drawing ink and pencil. I set up 15-20 pieces of 20″x30″ paper when I make these. I lay them out in rows with only a few inches between them. I mix a bowl with the color and another for the ink and then I start painting. No perfection allowed just gestures, brush strokes and the rhythm that occurs. They’re finished with repetitive pencil marks that again are based more on the methodical rhythm that starts to happen. Only 1 or 2 are selected for printing.
