If you’ve ever watched “Miracle” you may know bag skates as “Herbies”….recanting Team USA coach Herb Brooks yelling “again” as his players did skating drills until the rink closed and even stayed after hours….the “Bag Skate” was also part of the plot in “D2 ~ The Mighty Ducks.” The days of a coach punishing a team with a bag skate are rare in the NHL these days, the schedule is so tight that a full bag skate would be counterproductive…. at this level you have to find that one time of the year where you have three days between games……i
